About Dan Donovan

I was born and raised in Markham, ON, Canada. In 1997, at the tender age of 19, I moved to Waterloo, ON to attend the University of Waterloo. I spent the next five years there working through my Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering. In order to maintain my sanity, enjoy a social life, and take out some frustrations, I also played wide receiver for the Waterloo Warriors Varsity Football team from 1997-2001.

After graduation in early 2002, I travelled to Australia for a few months, then returned to the Kitchener-Waterloo area to go to work with a former co-op employer, ATS Automation Tooling Systems. I spent three years cranking out code as a C/C++ software developer, before moving into a technical sales position for a year and a half.

After working full-time for a little over four years, the time has come for a new challenge. I have decided to take the big leap and go back to school!! From September 2006 until August 2007, I will be back at UW pursuing a master’s degree. I have enrolled in the new Master’s of Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology program, which is an alternative to a traditional MBA, geared at commercializing new ideas. I am in the fourth MBET class, so I’m sure things will still be evolving, but it should be an exciting year! Check out my MBET blog to read all about my experiences!

Outside of work and school, I still keep myself active by training and racing in triathlons. Check out my Triathlon Journal for all the agonizing details!
